FAQs about Online Counseling
What is online counseling?
Online counseling is just like a traditional counseling session, but instead of meeting in person you will connect with your counselor via a secure video chat. This video chat (similar to Skype or FaceTime) is easy to use on your PC, laptop, tablet, or smartphone. Simply click the link provided by your counselor to open the video chat webpage!
Why would I want to do online counseling instead of in-person counseling?
Online counseling can be the ideal option for many people! Some of the benefits of online counseling are:
- No time spent driving to and from your appointments
- The freedom and flexibility to do counseling wherever you are (home, school, office, even in you car!)
- Limited mobility or health issues don't have to prevent you from accessing counseling services
- You may not have to arrange child care (though it is recommended all children be out of the room and unable to hear your conversation during your online counseling session)
- Easier to fit into your work schedule. Many lunch breaks are long enough to complete a counseling session!
- Weather won't be a factor. No need to brave the elements for your counseling sessions!

Will my health insurance cover online counseling?
Most likely!
Every insurance plan is different, so it is important that you verify with your insurance ahead of time if you want to have your sessions covered by your insurance plan. In the state of Kentucky, most insurance plans will have the EXACT SAME COVERAGE for online counseling as they do for in-person counseling! We are in-network providers with many insurance plans and can help you file for out of network benefits if we are not an in-network provider with your insurance company.
Please visit our FAQs page for information about insurance coverage.
If your insurance does not provide coverage for online counseling session, we have cash pay options and accept HSA/FSA funds to pay for services.
PLEASE NOTE: We do not accept Medicare or Tricare plans at this time, so you will not be able to use any insurance benefits if you have one of these plans.
